21st birthday!

So the reason I have been so quiet lately is because I celebrated my 21st on the 21st of feb! I will be back to normal soon after having my house invaded by guests, here's a few pics to keep you entertained in the mean time!

An over-night hair over-haul!

My hair has really taken a battering over the years, leaving it pretty dry and coarse. Sometimes you just need a bit of extra lovin' thrown into your routine, and I have found a pretty good thing for me. I will just say, these are not cheap what-so-ever. I do think that a similar treatment+oil concoction will work just as well, I don't even rate the Ojon oil, it was just all I had! So I dampened the ends of my hair, worked together a dollop of each products in my hand before slathering on my parched ends. I then plaited my hair and clipped it up, ready to sleep the night away. In the morning I shampooed, conditioned and styled as normal, and woah! My hair felt gorgeously soft and smooth, was so much more manageable and even my house mates commented on how nice it looked that day. Like I said, I don't even particularly rate the Ojon oil on my hair that much, to really budget this method down why not use a deep conditioner and budget hair oil in the same way?

Perfect pale-girl contour

Oh contouring, get it right and you can have chiselled cheekbones and impeccable bone structure, but get it wrong and it just looks, well, wrong. Contouring is basically using light and dark to either highlight, or push back certain parts of your face. I have found a little picture demo on google for you;

So one of the most important things when it comes to contouring (other than blending!) is choosing the right colour, you want a no shimmer, completely matte and un-orange colour, the shade will vary depending on your natural skin tone. As a pale girl I find it so difficult to find a natural looking contour that is subtle and non-muddy looking. That is untill I stumbled across this powder foundation in the illamasqua sale for £5, yes you heard correctly (I even got a 50p discount making it 4.50)!

It came with a little powder puff, and was housed in the usual classic packaging

Ooops, fingerprint! (the trouble with Illamasqua, eh!)

Perfect and subtle or build up for a more defined look

This is obviously targeted as a foundation for those with with olive skin, however this makes the perfect natural and subtle contour for us paley-s! There is no warmth what-so-ever which means it mimics a natural shadow shade and is very build-able, so you can go as strong or subtle as you want! This compact will seriously last you ages so even though it has gone up in price now it could still be a worthwhile investment if     you are in the market for a natural contour shade.

And here I am with a  subtle contour, I contoured my nose and my cheek bones in this picture, just ever so slightly as I was only going to uni! I will be sure to pop up a picture when I go for a more defined look!

Reduced Poppy King for No 7

I know I said that I have my pale-girl contour post coming up, and I do, but I thought I would slip this one in before its too late! When I was in my local boots a spotted a whole load of 17 and No7 make up on the clearance stand. I managed to pick up this gorgeous chubby-type stick, housed in adorable packaging with a handy sharpener, glossy and moisturising with good lasting colour,albeit a tad sticky though. (note: I used it before photographing). Now, I don't know if this is happening everywhere to make room for a new line,  or just my particular branch. So,  If I were you I would nip down to your boots pronto and have a look see.
